Kepner Makes History

Fuel Bladder on Lunar Lander
After Martin-Marietta Aircraft Co. in Bethpage New York manfactured the lunar lander for Neal Armstrong & Buzz Aldrin in 1969 and successfully returned the astronauts to the earth, they were kind enough to send us (Kepner Plastics ) a picture post card with a photo of the lunar lander and a note saying: “Thanks for helping us get the lunar lander off the Moon.”  Apparently, unknown to us, the polyurethane bladders that Kepner had been manufacturing for them for the previous year, were an important part of the polyethylene glycol hydraulic power fluid system used to launch the lunar lander to return to Earth.

Exxon Valdez
Kepner Plastics Fabricators Inc. was the largest supplier of Oil Spill Containment Boom, all rated the best by and for Exxon oil spill response at Valdez Alaska in 1979.   Kepner also provided several Heli-Skimmer skimming vessels, both of which received highest ratings by Exxon.

Nasa X-43 –
The X-43 is an unmanned experimental hypersonic aircraft with multiple planed scale variations meant to test various aspects of hypersonic flight.  It was part of NASA’s Hyper-X program and has set several airspeed records for jet-propelled aircraft. The X-43 is the fastest aircraft on record at over 6,500 miles per hour.   Kepner Plasitcs engineered and designed the thermal and environmental protective cover that protect this aircraft from the elements.
